UTTARKASHI - BANDARPUNCH MOUNTAINS
BANDARPUNCH MOUNTAINS and glaciers of Uttarakhand, situated in the lap of the Himalayas, are also the origin of many rivers including Ganga, Yamuna. These mountain peaks contain many secrets and stories of deities. Bandarpoonch Glacier: Yamuna River originates from this place; Lord Hanuman extinguished the fire of his tail here. Bandarpoonch Glacier, which lies in the Gangotri Himalayan Range, was the first to be climbed by Major General Harold Williams in the year 1950. The first team to climb Bandarpunch consisted of legendary mountaineer Tenzing Norgay, Sergeant Roy Greenwood and Sherpa Kin Chok Tshering.

Bandarpunch is a mountain massif in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Its look like tail of monkey that is why it is called Bandarpunch. The massif has three peaks namely; Bandarpunch 1, Bandarpunch 2, Kalanag. Bandarpuch expedition lies in Uttarkashi of Garhwal Himalayas. The trek to Bandarpunch starts from Sukhi Village which is 65 km from Uttarkashi. You can hire taxis from Uttarkashi to reach Sukhi Village.
To reach Bandarpunch from Delhi, you can take buses or taxis from ISBT Kashmiri Gate to Rishikesh. From Rishikesh, hire a taxi, share a cab, or use local buses to reach Uttarkashi. From there, continue your journey to the base of Bandarpunch. The total distance from Delhi to base of Bandarpunch is approximately 475 km.
